Overview

Distributed storage is a cluster-based hyper-converged storage solution provided by the platform. Based on the open-source ROOK + Ceph storage solution, distributed storage achieves automatic management, automatic scaling, and automatic repair capabilities, meeting the block storage, file storage, and object storage needs of small and medium-sized scale.

Note: In this document, “Open ports” refers to the Ceph storage within the cluster, while “external storage” refers to the Ceph storage outside the cluster.

The platform supports two types of storage solutions, and you can choose either one or only one solution.

Requirement Advantages
  • At least 3 nodes in the cluster.

  • At least 1 blank hard disk or unformatted hard disk partition on each node.

  • Recommended available disk capacity is greater than 50 GB.
  • No need for additional storage solutions, configuration can be done on the cluster, saving costs.

    Create storage pool

    Option 1: Accessing distributed storage resources from other clusters within the platform to ensure storage and business isolation for easier management and maintenance.

    Option 2: Access external Ceph storage resources for distributed storage.

    Requirement (Choose one) Advantages
    Option 1: Distributed storage deployed in another cluster - Allows efficient utilization of storage resources across clusters and avoids disruption to storage services due to business changes. It ensures data security and stability while reducing operational complexity.

    Note: If the distributed storage in different platforms, such as the primary and backup platforms in a disaster recovery environment, please use the external Ceph integration method.
    Option 2: External Ceph storage with version ≥ 14.2.3 - Compared to directly creating StorageClasses, this method is more convenient for using platform-provided features such as GUI-based volume snapshots and scaling.

    Note: If you need to maintain the configuration of external storage pools, storage devices, etc., you need to operate in the management interface of the storage cluster.
