Regions
With the expansion of private cloud scenarios, infrastructure planning is no longer limited to a single data center in order to meet the high availability requirements of different business scenarios and fault domains. Instead, it is gradually evolving towards multiple centers in multiple locations and hybrid clouds.
To support this, the platform provides region management functionality, allowing users to manage regions and cluster divisions based on their own data center planning, and configure cross-domain load balancing strategies for business traffic to build a highly available disaster recovery environment.
Explanation of nouns
Region: A geographical area where fault domains are completely isolated (including natural disasters), and regions are generally interconnected through metropolitan area networks or dedicated lines. In the event of a fault domain, natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes are dealt with.
Usage scenarios
Two-location, three-center business disaster recovery scenario: In this scenario, three data centers need to be built, distributed in two different regions. For example, there are two available zones in the Nanjing region, namely Yuhua data center and Jiangbei data center, and one available zone in the Beijing region, namely Jiuxianqiao data center. The three data centers need to meet the business disaster recovery requirements of the service, and the area information of the cluster can be used to distribute traffic.
Create a region

Click Platform Settings > Region Management on the left navigation bar.

Click Create Region.

Configure the relevant parameters according to the following instructions:

Name: The name of the region, for example: beijing.

Display Name: The display name of the region, for example: Beijing.

Delete a region
Caution: If a region has been set for a cluster, the region cannot be deleted.

Click Platform Settings > Region Management on the left navigation bar.

Find the region name to be deleted.

Click on
> Delete, and confirm.
