Mute

Support for silencing alerts at the cluster, node, and workload levels.

By setting silence for a specific alert policy, you can control that all rules under the alert policy will not send alert notifications to recipients during the specified silence period when an alert is triggered. Permanent and custom time silences are supported.

For example, during platform upgrades or maintenance, many resource states may become abnormal, and relevant alerts are triggered. Operations personnel may receive frequent alert notifications until the upgrade or maintenance is completed. By setting silence for the alert policy, you can prevent this situation from occurring.

Note: The silence state only lasts until the end of the silence period. After that, the silence setting will be automatically cleared.

Procedure of Operation

  1. In the left navigation pane, click on Operations Center > Alerts > Rules.

Tip: You can switch target clusters using the top navigation bar.

  2. Click on the right side of the alert policy that you want to silence > Mute.

  3. Toggle the Alert Silence switch to the on position.

Tip: This switch controls whether the silence setting is effective. To cancel the silence, simply turn off the switch.

  4. Configure the relevant parameters following the instructions below.

Tip: When no silence range or resource name is selected, it defaults to Any, which means that the platform will correspondingly Delete Silence/Add Silence alert policies when resources are Deleted/Added in the future. If you select Select All, it will only be valid for the currently selected resource scope, and there will be no processing when resources are Deleted/Added later.

    Parameter Description
Silence Range The scope of resources where silence settings take effect.
Resource Name The name of the resource object to which the silence setting applies.
Silence Time The time range for alert silence. The alert enters silence status from the start time of the silence period. If the alert policy is still in alert status or triggers an alert after the end time of silence, it will resume alert notifications.
Permanent: After the silence is set, the alert will remain in silence status until the alert policy is deleted.
Custom: Set the start and end times for silence customization, with a time interval of no less than 5 minutes.
  5. Click Set.

Tip: From the moment silence is set until just before silence begins, the silence status of the alert policy is Silence Waiting. During this period, when rules in the policy trigger alerts, notifications will be sent normally. From the start of silence until it ends, the silence status of the alert policy is Silencing, and no notifications will be sent when rules in the policy trigger alerts.
