Add a device or device class
Add a device class
To uniformly classify devices of the same type or hard disks of the same business logic in cluster nodes, customize device classes according to storage requirements, and allocate different storage contents to different types of storage disks.
Procedure
-
In the left navigation bar, click Storage > Distributed Storage.
-
Click the Device Class tab.
-
Click Add Device Class and configure the relevant parameters according to the following instructions.
Parameter Description Name The name of the device class. The following names cannot be used for device classes: hdd,ssd,nvme.Storage Device Select All Empty Devices or Designated Device in the node. - When the switch of all empty devices is turned on: all empty devices under the node are added to the device class;
- When the switch of all empty devices is turned off: manually enter the name of the empty device under the node, such as
sda.
Add a device
Map available hard disks as storage devices for use and management.
Note: After adding a hard disk as a storage device, updating or removing it on the interface is not supported.
Procedure
-
In the left navigation bar, click Storage > Distributed Storage.
-
Click on the Device Class tab.
-
On the right side of the device class, click on Add Device and configure the relevant parameters according to the following instructions.
Parameter Description Node Type Select the type of node where the hard drive to be added as a storage device is located.
Compute node: A node that has not had a storage device added.
Storage Node: A node that has had a storage device added.Add type Select the method of adding the hard drive as a storage device.
All Empty Devices: Select all unpartitioned and unmounted hard drives in the node to be added as storage devices.
Designated Device: Select some hard drives in the node to be added as storage devices, including empty hard drives or hard drives that have been partitioned and mounted.
When the node type is Storage Node, only Designated Device can be selected.Designated Device When the add type is Designated Device, enter the names of all hard drives to be added as storage devices, such as sda, sdb, and press Enter after entering each hard drive name.
Note: The storage device recommends using the entire hard disk rather than the partitions on the disk. -
Click on Add.
Hard disk status
-
normal: Corresponds to the storage device status of IN+UP.
-
Abnormal: Corresponds to the storage device status of IN+DOWN.
-
Offline: Corresponds to the storage device status of OUT+UP.
-
Fault: Corresponds to the storage device status of OUT+DOWN.
